Meet the Artist
Sara Nakamura Petty
A Lifelong Connection to Art
Bay Area artist Sara Nakamura Petty has been drawn to art and art history for as long as she can remember. Creativity has always been part of her story, influenced by a talented artist mother and an accomplished commercial artist uncle.
Today, Sara has turned that lifelong appreciation into a dedicated artistic practice, creating original abstract artwork that celebrates color, movement, and connection.
Originality
Every piece is created by hand and completely unique. Alcohol ink artwork cannot be carbon copied or recreated exactly.
Creative Expression
Art should encourage curiosity, exploration, and the freedom to create outside the lines.
Connection
Art has the ability to spark memories, emotions, and meaningful connections between people and spaces.
Creating Outside the Lines
Inspired by nature, emotion, color, and the world around her, Sara allows each painting to evolve organically.
The inks move, blend, and interact in unexpected ways, creating artwork that is expressive, fluid, and completely original.
For Sara, the creative process isn't about controlling every detail. It's about embracing movement and allowing the artwork to become what it was meant to be.
"My art story becomes part of yours."
I love hearing the feelings, memories, and emotions people experience when viewing my artwork. Everyone interprets art differently. When a piece enters someone's home, my experience becomes a shared experience — and the artwork becomes part of their story.
